Nowadays, sites are employing tracking programs that can produce reports on virtually every aspect of your online campaigns. The vast majority of sites will at least offer you the ability to view how many impressions your ad has received, as well as how many clicks your ad has earned.

You can judge effectiveness by visitng their complete site, market presence and their strength. You should get overall reviews of particular advertisers through their ranking, customer base etc. As far as possible go on for online chat with them and try to contact their few customers if possible.

one option to track effectiveness is to place a simple referral box in your site’s shopping cart. You can ask your customers to type in how they found your site before they finish placing an order. You can use a drop-down list to allow your customers to select one of the sites where your advertising is featured, or use a simple text-entry box where they can type in their response.

I never thought of the option of asking customers via a drop-down box for how they found the site. I've been trying to find a way to figure out which ads are working and which ones aren't. Thanks.

One very simple way to track ad effectiveness is to have each ad going to a different page in your site. Then you can look at your own site stats to see which pages are receiving the most traffic. I've done this when testing banner ads to see where to really spend the money.

Online marketing can be extremely effective if it is done right. You do need some way to measure your results though, otherwise you are just throwing money into the wind.

Investments should always be done with great care whether it is done in any field. A web hosting package from a web hosting provider is also a good example of this and this can also be considered as an investment. Online advertisement can be very good for your business but you should invest in it only if you are pretty sure about the company or the person who is offering you this service. You should make sure that you will get the returns you need. I personally think that online advertisement shouldn't be done on a contract basis and paying for it in advance. This is because you never know when the ranking of a website will be effected. What do you think ?

Online advertising is helpful in terms of promoting an ad that pays per click from every traffic that visits your site. You can earn from each click but the half percentage of revenue also goes to the affiliate program that you are working with.

Some of the disadvantages included cannot be called as disadvantages for most of the websites as online advertisement has helped many of the websites to increase popularity and trust among visitors which has certainly helped them to improve sales and finally the profit. I think this basically depends on the requirements and strategy of online advertising done.
