Default Who buys Windows collocated servers? Why do

they use that instead of dedicated hosting? I'm doing an internship and I need help figuring this out. Basically as I understand it, people use collocated servers instead of dedicated hosting because they have customized servers whose add-ons can't be replaced by the ones provided by dedicated hosting companies.

What kinds of people and businesses need this service as opposed to dedicated hosting?

Well it depends on business to business, but in my opinion mostly those users who are running game servers usually opt Windows collocated servers. Such kind of users highly customize their servers to run HD games smoothly.

Only the companies or individuals who have the hardware required for the server go for co-location hosting services as they find it a little cheaper because they do not have to rent the hardware. All the other companies and individuals go for Dedicated hosting with a hosting provider as this is a cheaper option and they don't have to invest a high amount of money for the hardware in the initial stage and neither they are forced to use the same hardware.

Default windows servers

hi,
Windows servers are bought generally in a situation where people working on the system have less linux os knowledge and they can work easily on windows servers in GUI environment.

One of the multiple reasons of co-location can be, if one is having a server in his office or home and have lots of data and softwares installed on the server which would turn into a pain to migrate all the data and installing all the softwares remotely on the rented server. In that case, I think the person should find a descent host nearby and get going.
