Cheap dedicated servers – are they real?
Hello
I am always doubting about providers that offer dedicated servers under $60. A standard server needs 2 Amps of 110V power. 1 Amp (backed up, stabilized, air conditioned) cost will near about $15 so you need near $30-40 only to power up a server. Include super cheap, oversold internet $10-15 add mega cheap colocation price $10-15, plus server cost lets say at least $15-20 per/month and you have 65-90 price range.
As you see it is very hard to create effective business model under $60 per server price. Both sides should have advantage of doing business only in that case it will last long. am I wrong?

Well, web host could be very profitable selling single core processor dedicated servers under $70, but not quad core servers.

That is the question. Some companies offer Pentium4 era Xeons, Dual-cores and quad cores for $60. Single core processor or Atom are just another tale - they are super cheap, with low power consumption and require less than 1U of space but performance is just okay with IO bound architecture.

Big web hosts are offering dedicated servers for that price range, as they have the good SLA with their data center service providers so why not to try? May be this funny as you could get highly configured vps for that price tag with antiquate resources, but dedicated box always offer more independence literally.

I have found, the dedicate server has got Intel Celeron D 3.06 with 2 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Disk, 2000 GB Bandwidth and the VPS for the same price got 2 GB RAM, 60 GB Disk Space 1000 GB Bandwidth. Interesting for sure...

Well dedicated server starting from $69.00 and if your project generating a good amount of revenue, then I don't think it's costly, however, if you feel it's costly then you can choose vps or cloud hosting. Look, web host do have a lot flexibility with hosting packages so you have a various options for selection.

Geez, $69 is good.
VPS hosting? Hmmm I've heard that VPS is a good alternate to dedicated hosting, cheaper but could do well as dedicated server. Cloud hosting is just new in the hosting market, right?
By the way, I've came across some dedicated hosting companies in the market, they are listed here with their plans and rates. Here it is: Dedicated Servers - Find the Best Dedicated Hosting
I find this one helpful.
Thanks for the info, Robin! ^^

While browsing the net, I've came across a certain review about hostgator, a colleague advised me to check their services because so far, she experience no problem at all. Here is the review for their compliance with dedicated server: HostGator - Code of Conduct - WebHostingSearch.com
I find this one helpful, makes me check on some companies if they are complying to such features.
Hope you'll find it useful too.

Hello raismith
I think you should have to check TOS & SLA of BODHost.com. And if you want to read some honest reviews about our services, then you can browse Customer Testimonials section on this forum.

Hi there Shane!
here is the info that caught my eye:
"...Although, other hosting services have a provision of a 30 days money-back Guarantee."
now that's good to know!
One more question regarding the money-back policy, how is the customer being supported and contacted?

Hello raismith
You will have to send refund request at feedback@bodhost.com and then our senior admin of billing department will look over your issue...and the cancellation process usually go through the email discussion.
Note:
1. All payments to BODHost for dedicated servers are non-refundable. This includes the one time setup fee and subsequent charges regardless of usage.
2. All overcharges or billing disputes must be reported within 30 days of the time the dispute occurred.

Cheap hostings are real, but have many disadvantages that you should check that is, lack of support, poor performance and the most important the backups!
My earlier host said we do not maitain backups and My whole work was lost. But thanks to Bodhost, I have changed my host.
