I have been reading lots of news and articles about cloud computing and grid computing but i was unable to differentiate these terms properly. Anyone who could tell me the difference between cloud and grid computing?
Grid computing is a form of a distributed computing. In this super and a virtual computer is organised in a cluster forming a network. These computers are loosely coupled for the purpose to perform large tasks.
Cloud computing is a new style of computing in which the resources are dynamically scalable and virtualized. It can be provided in any of these
SaaS : Software as a Service
PaaS : Platform as a service
Utility computing
Managed Service providers
Cloud Computing: Make use of 3rd party services to perform computing needs. Cloud computing helps the companies to scale up the massive capacities instantly and don’t even need to invest for new infrastructure. It is pretty much beneficial for small and medium sized businesses. In cloud computing, people use what they need on internet and pay for only what they use.
Grid Computing: It is a form of distributed computing which is using the resources of many computers in a network that is used at a same time for solving a single issue. They are designed for sharing the resources or it can also be taken as large-scale cluster computing.
