Default Grid Hosting

Could someone explain what is grid hosting is about?

Is this Bodhost package a sample of grid hosting?

http://www.bodhost.com/forum/web-hos...per-month.html (BODHost Managed Dedicated Servers Starting Only at $79.00USD Per Month)

Where do grid hosting apply and what kind of websites use this kind of hosting?

I am interested in learning more about grid hosting as well. As best I can understand, it is similar to cluster hosting however has more scalability however I cannot find specific information in regards to what the benefits are.

Yes, I agree with Helpholly. Grid hosting is cluster-based hosting, involving several web servers that work in tandem. I think the main benefit is the reliabilily and guaranteed 100% uptime.

Could you please translate "cluster based hosting" for me?

I'm very sorry but I have no knowledge about it and I would really appreciate if you could explain it to me. Thanks in advance.

Well, to make it easier (for me LOL), I will take "clustered" dedicated servers as an example (if it does exist). Supposed there are 5 dedicated servers hosting 5 websites. In the conventional (non clustered) system, if server A fails, the website hosted there will be down, because one server hosts one website. If the 5 servers are "clustered", they will work in tandem and serve as a single server. Total load of the 5 websites will be balanced between those 5 servers.

Thanks for that explanation, I really appreciate it!

So that means in a clustered hosting, from your example, if one of the 5 servers will be out, the remaining 4 servers will be shared by the 5 websites. Is this what you mean?

Now going back to the original topic, is grid hosting works the same as cluster based hosting?

I have read on these several times in various places to try to understand and I still haven't really figured it out but as best I can explain, grid and cluster are very similar being grid is a form of cluster hosting but manages and allocates jobs in a different way?
