Default Using 64bit OS

Someone once told me that if you had more than 4GB RAM, you would need to use a 64bit operating system in order to fully utilize it. Is this true? Does this mean that if you use an 32bit OS, then you can't have more than 4GB of RAM?

Yes, if you have 4GB or more of RAM, you'll need a 64bit operating system in order to utilize the full amount. It doesn't mean you can't use 32bit — you can— but it just can't use all the RAM.
