Mixed cPanel/Plesk DNS clusters

Is this even possible? I'm not talking about server clusters but a DNS cluster where the hosted domains all point to the same nameservers (eg. ns1.domain.com & ns2.domain.com) but the websites would be hosted on different servers with different control panels (Plesk and cPanel in this example, though I suppose other control panels could also apply). Can it be done; is it possible to use two different servers in a DNS cluster?
