Virtuozzo Fail-Over Cluster Deployment
In order to improve performance and to make sure that the Mission critical applications are available all the time, you can use Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS) to create a Cluster which includes two or more hardware nodes and these nodes will then host Virtuozzo Containers software with mission Critical services and containers which are included in Virtuozzo Containers.
If this kind of setup is available and one of the Hardware Node in the Cluster, another node will be available to take over all the tasks which are to be managed and will take the responsibilities until the Node is back online.
Following steps are to be followed in order to setup a Virtuozzo Failover Cluster:
1) First, decide the Model i.e. the kind of setup which is required by your applications or services.
2) Once done, proceed with the setup of the Hardware.
3) Now, you will have to proceed with the Configuration of the Servers. The Configuration of the Servers in the Cluster should be done in such a way that all the Servers should participate in the Cluster.
Note: After this configuration is successfully completed, we can refer to the Servers as Cluster nodes or simply nodes.
4) You will have to add the Cluster nodes once you setup an Active Directory domain. However, if you already have an Active Directory domain which is already setup then you can add the cluster nodes to it.
5) Now, you will have to proceed with the setup of the Shared storage space which is required. Once you have the Shared storage space, you will have to connect it to the nodes in the Cluster.
6) Proceed with the setup of an MSCS cluster and add all the Hardware nodes available to this Cluster.
7) Once the above steps are followed and everything goes well, you can proceed with the setup of Virtuozzo Failover Cluster.
