Default Colocation

Hi,

Not much familiar with the concept of Colocation. I see that you provide Managed Colocation Servers. Also one needs to pay an amount that is near to the cost of a dedicated server. I understand that in Colocation I need to send the required Hardware to DC. Hence my question is what is the difference between leasing a server and sending hardware to the DC (colocation) if costs are nearly equal?
Anyone here please help. Thank you.

Co-location is also referred as Colo. A web server which is located at a dedicated facility designed with the resources that include a secured rack, security and support, dedicated internet connection and regulated power supply. Customers can physically house their hardware and other equipments in the secure and safe environment of co-location centers. The co-location facilities offer high security, fire detection and extinguishing devices, power generators for back-up, multiple connection feeds, filtered power etc. The colocation facility offers features such as video surveillance, fire protection equipments and techniques and most importantly provides high availability of bandwidth.

Hmm... if you want to colo, do you have to bring your server in personally or can you just ship it in to the data center? Any restrictions for colocation, like, do you need to be a U.S. citizen in order to colocate? Or would international customers also be able to send in their servers?

Wow this is very interesting. This is why I come to Bodhost forum each and every day. I had no idea that something such as Colo existed. I love this site!

In terms with managed colocation servers, you just need to ship your hardware (1U or 2U rackmount or tower servers ) to our Data Center and we will rack it up in our DC racks. Also, we will completely manage your servers in order to ease out your stress.

However, we will also provide you with KVM-IP that will allow you to access your server through a console and view as it's your local machine.

Regards,

Shane Phillips
