Default About how many clients?

If I decided to resell hosting using the Intel Core2Duo E7200 dedicated server that Bodhost offers, about how many clients would be recommended to have on it? I imagine that it would greatly vary depending on my client's needs, but how could I accurately measure this?

Basically, when we provide a dedicated server hosting service to our clients, we do not impose any restrictions on the server in terms of usage which are legal of course. So that means that it all depends upon the utilization of client resources. In order to measure the resources accurately, we would like to know what are you planning to run / host on the server ?

Regards,

Shane Phillips

I'm actually not sure at the moment as like I said, I plan to use this server to host client websites not my own.

The people I've worked with so far have had their own existing host and were satisfied with that so I just provided design services. However, I'm thinking about approaching some potential clients with no site at all or web host, so it might be beneficial to offer hosting to them. By the looks of it, it seems that it's a bit early right now to speculate their needs I'd have to wait until I have a few more clients to see what kind of server I might need. Although most likely they will just be wanting some static HTML pages or a simple PHP site with a contact form which I doubt will take up much resources. Also, I do this as a side thing and not really full-time so I'm not really in a rush right now but with this economy it might be wise to start taking this to the next level..

You can surely resell hosting with a Dedicated server. It is really not possible to tell you exactly about the number of customers you will be able to host on a Dedicated server until we know about the resources you will be assigning to each of your customer. However, as Shane said, we do not have any limits on our Dedicated servers on the number of customers you can host on them.

It will be quite simple for you as you will know the resources assigned to your Dedicated server and you will also know the resources assigned to each of your customer. You will be able to assign resources to each of your customer through the control panel. This makes it really simple for you to host the accounts on your server.

Sounds Good. Perhaps, you can start with our VPS Hosting packages and upgrade to a dedicated server, if required.

A VPS would be a great start in my opinion. It's recommended to keep some resources free to cover up spikes in usage at anytime.

Agreed. A VPS offers almost the same features of a Dedicated server and the cost of the VPS is much less in comparison to a Dedicated server. You can surely start with a VPS hosting package and upgrade your package later on or go for a Dedicated server when you require more resources.
