Permission denied error?

Hi

I get a permission denied error, while writing to a file? I don't know why this happen and expect some good suggestion that helps me to resolve this error.

I think you have to change “chmod” permission of the relevant directory to writable “777”. Most of the FTP software have the option to change the permissions of directories and files on the server. Normally you have to select “properties” and choose all the check box options, which consists to read, write, execute.

You are getting permission denied error due to incorrect permission set for your files and folders. You always need to make sure that all the files are set to 644 and all the folders are set to 755 permission. You can change the permission from cpanel as wee as from FTP. Bellow are the steps

From cpanel:
Login to your cPanel.
Find File Manager and click on it.
Select web root and show hidden files and click on Go.
Now checkmark then box next to the directory or file that you want to change the permission of.
Click on Change Permissions.
And select 755 for folder and 644 for file in the box.
Finally, click on Change Permissions.


From FTP:

Following are the steps to change the permission from different ftp client

Filezilla
Right click on the file or directory that you want to change permissions on then when change file attribute screen will appear then you can either check the “Read”, “Write” and “Execute” check boxes, or you can directly type a Numeric Value into the “Numeric Box” and click OK.

WS FTP
Step one: Right mouse click on the file => Select "Properties" from context menu.
Step two: Enter either the number "777" in the field "Numeric Value" or select all checkboxes.
Alternative
Enter in the fields right beside the file lists the chmod command with your file name: chmod 777 your_file.txt

CuteFTP
Right click with the mouse on the on the file or folder for which you want to change the permission then Select "Properties/CHMOD" from context menu. Then type 755 if changing permission for folder and 644 for file.

FTP Voyager
In Voyager ftp you can change the permission in two ways
1) Right click with the mouse on the on the file or folder for which you want to change the permission then Select "Properties" from context menu. Then type 755 if changing permission for folder and 644 for file in the field "Numeric Value" or select all check boxes.
OR
2) Right click with the mouse on the on the file or folder for which you want to change the permission then Select "Commands" from context menu => Select "Change File Attributes..." from the second context menu then Enter the chmod command with your file name: chmod 644 your_file.txt or 755 for your folder

Leech FTP
Just Right click on the file or folder for which you want to change the permission then Select "Set Attributes ..." from context menu. Then Enter 755 if changing permission for folder and 644 for file in the field "Numeric" or select all checkboxes
