Default /public_html/ and /www/

What is the difference between the /public_html/ and the /www/ in the cPanel directory? Are they the same like a symbolic link acting on the other?

Let's have a look at this way, you can upload your web data files to both of the folders as /www/ is more or less linked to /public_html/ folder. But make sure you don't delete them in any case unless you have taken backup. ;)

I don't think there is a difference between them. I've always used the /public_html/ but maybe one has some different permissions or something?
