Most importantly, do you have an exclusive/static IP for internet connectivity ? Yep, you'd need to remove the currently installed Windows OS & install a fresh copy of Linux if you want the laptop to be used as a server.. If you want Windows as well.. create some space/partition for Linux & get the free OS installed as per your choice
You won't be able to run both of them simultaneously, unless you install Sun xVM Virtual Box on Windows [Mother] & install Linux on the VM [Child]. Good luck..
