If you are planning to start a hosting company and sell shared hosting packages then I would suggest you to consider a VPS server for a start, using cPanel / WHM Control panel, you can create multiple shared hosting packages on your VPS. Once you feel that your need for resources has increased, then you can upgrade to a Dedicated Server at any point of time.
