Thanks for your help, Jeremy! Looks like connecting through SSH did it. SQLyog only offers the feature in their premium editions (I think) and not in the free one, so I went ahead and uninstalled SQLyog and then installed Navicat. The SSH tunneling option in Navicat worked wonderfully.
Looks like it's goodbye SQLyog, hello Navicat! :D
